Singer. Songwriter. Frontman.

Whether it’s an acoustic solo gig, in the studio, at a rock show with his band Fight The Fade, or leading worship at his home church with his wife, you can almost always find Zene Smith if you follow the music.

His musical journey goes all the way back to winning 1st place in an individual songwriting competition in 2005 in his home state of Iowa.

In late 2010, that journey took him to pack up and move to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Joining the (now disbanded) post-hardcore band Rise & Fire, Zene helped write and release the band’s EP. However, being the band’s guitarist and backup vocalist, he left the band in mid-2011 to pursue a new project where he could focus on vocals. A few months later, he met with and joined the band Fight The Fade as their new lead vocalist.

Since that time, he has co-written and released 7 albums, several singles, and a handful of covers with the band. With over 215k monthly listeners, and several tracks blowing well past the 1 Million streams mark, international touring, regular placement on Spotify editorials, and a record deal with FiXT Music, it’s no wonder Fight The Fade is continuing to gain the attention of new listeners all over the globe.

Somewhere in the middle of all the success of Fight The Fade, Zene has also managed to release 2 albums of his own (Skyline Stationery in 2017, and Wildflower in 2020), a handful of feature tracks with artists such as Theody, Kaixo, and Mousemat, TORONTOISBROKEN, Andromida, and even a worship EP called “Victory & Surrender” with AliveChurch Worship where he currently serves as the Worship Pastor.
